Trekking in rainforest

South Thailand is flanked by sea on two sides and embraces several rainforests in its midst. One of them is in Khao Luang National Park that attracts nature lovers and trekkers all year round.

Rich in flora, especially ferns growing on trees, Khao Luang, or Krung Ching as it's also called, has tough trails to waterfalls. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in cooperation with a group of Hat Yai-based tour operators is organising a trip to the park during September 27-28.

The tour features a visit to Krung Ching Waterfall as well as a rafting in Khlong Krai stream. The two-day package is priced at 720 baht per person, with TAT subsidising the trip. Departure is from Hat Yai.

Otherwise, there are non-subsidised trips that cost about 1,800 baht per person. For more information call Advanced Green Tour at 074-247-321, 09-733-8571, Prinda Tours at 074-354-196/7, 09-733-6490, and Star Pink Tours at 074-239-721, 01-599-6148.
