Saraburi - Khok Samrong If you're planning a short trip for the upcoming holidays, this is one route for you to consider. Let's waste no time and get going. Starting from Saraburi town, take Highway 1 (Phaholyothin) northward. As you pass the junction where Highway 21 splits off Highway 1 (see map), look left. The main gate of Phu Khae Botanical Garden is just a few hundred metres from that point. About 12.5 kilometres further north from Phu Khae, you'll see the road to Wat Phra Phutthabat, our Point B. After visiting the famous temple get back on Highway 1 and continue north to the town of Lop Buri. Phra Prang Sam Yot, Phra Kan Shrine, Narai Ratchanivet Palace and other historical sites are on the west side of the town. To get to Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu, backtrack eastward to the Thep Satri Circle and follow Highway 1 northward. The side road to the temple is just three kilometres from the circle. As for Khao Wong Phrachan, it's about 17.5 kilometres further up Highway 1. The hill is about five kilometres off the highway. If you wish to hike to the top, there is a trail that starts from Wat Khao Wong Phrachan at the foothill. For those who wish to attend the National Symphony Orchestra's mini concert at Narai Ratchanivet Palace this Saturday and are looking for some place to stay overnight, Lop Buri town has several hotels. |
