Lalu and whims of nature

Lalu, a canyonlike landscape, in Ta Phraya District of Sa Kaeo, is a natural wonder.

Covering an area of 2,000 rai, the whole expanse is naturally carved by rain and wind into eerie shapes.

To explore the canyon, go to the visitor centre at Ban Nong Phak Waen. There are three outlying spots. To tour all three of them can take upto three hours. Most visitors go for Lalu I and II. Since cars are barred, you should leave your vehicles at the visitor centre and take a local three-wheeler to the park.

A tour to Lalu I and II costs 200 baht based on groups of eight persons, but if you wish to carry on to Lau III you will charged an extra fee, depending on the number of persons travelling together.

From Bangkok drive to Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri and Aranyaprathet. From there, take Highway 348 and turn left at Ban Koot Toei (kilometre marker 35-36) into Highway 3486 and drive to Ban Koklan. After eight kilometres turn left into Ban Koklan-Nong Phak Waen Road and drive on for another 18 kilometres to Lalu.
