OLD BANGKOK INN
Stepping inside the Old Bangkok Inn on Phra Sumen Road, you feel transported back in time. The place is remindful of Bangkok 100 years ago.
The property was presented to Nantiya's great grand parents by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). However, they didn't make it their residence but instead carved it up and leased it to vendors who turned them into noodle shops that appeared, after decades of operations, completely run-down, an eye sore.
So when Nantiya and her son thought of turning the property into an eight-room bed-and-breakfast style boutique inn, they knew they had a job at their hands.
Thanks to the team of architect and interior designer they hired, they managed to convert the dilapidated shops into a posh inn with traditional elegance and luxury that opened in July this year.
It is a "green hotel", therefore smoking is completely banned. Its glass roof allows sunlight to filter into the lobby area and waste water and garbage are recycled for reuse.
