CLUB MED, PHUKET

Phuket's Club Med, on Kata Beach , is a lush, green property studded with rich, multi-hued fauna, a sparkling beachfront, and plenty of activities to keep alive the French group's concept of an action-packed holiday. That's why the group has become highly popular with families. In fact, a Mini Club for children is to open at the Phuket property later in the year.

The group has 40 properties around the world, and the Phuket complex was its second in Asia, built in 1985, after Cherating Beach , in Malaysia .

A recent 3.5 million baht renovation, after tsunami, has led to the construction of 36 deluxe rooms and six suites, in addition to the 250 superior rooms, built in their popular village-style format.

The rooms are bright, well-designed, with ethnic wood-crafts, locker, superior toiletries. A Club Med credit card is issued on arrival to accentuate the club concept.

The Club Med has its own vocabulary, where the guests are called GMs (Gentile Members) and the staff GOs (Gentile Organisers).
