Park admission fees raised
The National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department has announced new entrance fees to leading parks nationwide. Citing rising maintenance costs and the need for better public facilities and security, the rates take effect September 15.
The new fees is 80 baht for adults and 40 baht for children aged three to 14 years. It applies to five marine national parks - Mu Ko Surin, Mu Ko Similan, Ao Phangnga, Ko Tarutao and Mu Ko Ang Thong.
For 28 other national parks including Khao Yai, Phu Ruea and Khao Laem Ya-Mu Ko Samet, the entrance fees for adults is 40 baht and 20 baht for children.
Students will be charged at the same rate as children.
However, for foreigners the new fees that applies at every national park is much higher - 400 baht for adults and 200 baht for children.
Scuba divers, meanwhile, will be charged at the rate of 200 baht per day.
